Green spaces in Peckham (III)

Several local artists were commissioned to contribute to the Bellenden Renewal Scheme, a programme for the regeneration of the Bellenden area in Peckham which ran from 1997 to 2007. Tom Phillips designed this steel arch in McDermott Grove Community Garden, the gates and railings to the garden and also some streets lamps and two mosaics on Bellenden Road. For whatever reason Hockney's paintings sprang to mind when I saw this scene.
